WENDELL, NC – After four years as a student and two years as Recruitment Coordinator, Arron Howard has announced his resignation to accept the position of Youth Pastor at First Free Will Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida.

Arron came to Southeastern as a student in Fall 2015. He is a native of Erwin, Tennessee, and a proud member of the Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. Arriving at Southeastern, he quickly stood out as an outstanding student and young preacher.  He served in the Sounds of Praise Ensemble for three years and as the student body president for two years.

Nearing graduation, the College Administration recognized his love for Southeastern’s mission and his ability to represent the College well. He accepted the position of Recruitment Coordinator in the Spring semester of 2019. Upon graduation, he married Brynna Betancourt, who completed her education degree from Southeastern the next year.

During the last two years, Arron has worked faithfully to recruit students, update the College website, and represent the College with his powerful preaching at every opportunity. Arron and Brynna have lived in campus housing since graduation and given the students their love, counsel, and support throughout daily campus life. Arron will complete his Master of Arts degree in Biblical Exposition from Liberty School of Divinity in August of 2021.

Director of Development Steve Berry stated, “Arron and Brynna have been an instrumental part of our promotional team and will be deeply missed.  We discussed during our hiring interview with Arron that it would be a challenge for him to serve Southeastern for more than a couple of years due to his giftedness in preaching God’s Word and knowing that the needs are so great in the field. As a couple, they will be a tremendous blessing to Pastor Will Beauchamp and the First Free Will Baptist Church of Tampa.”

President Ange expressed, “We are forever grateful for Arron’s time of service to Southeastern. He is now going to serve Christ in the local church and lead the next generation to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives in following Christ. Arron represents exactly why Southeastern exists, and he is going forward to do exactly what he has been trained to do.”

Arron will continue working for Southeastern through June 30, 2021, following this year’s Youth Aflame Conference.
