Dear Southeastern Community,

Due to the reality of the highly viral nature of the novel coronavirus and the imposed state of social distancing and mitigation strategies, we regret to inform you that we are postponing Commencement planned for May 8. The health and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff have been paramount in making this difficult decision.

We know that Commencement is one of the most important milestones of our students’ lives. It is the culmination of years of hard work, not just from students but also from their families and other loved ones. Our Academic Dean, as the parent of a graduating senior, understands on a personal level the impact on his family and daughter.

To our graduating seniors, we know that you have experienced a significant number of changes to your final semester. You have lost many of the definitive experiences and honors associated with being a senior. We recognize this, and we are committed to celebrating your accomplishments to God’s glory as the talented graduating Class of 2020.

We are pleased to announce that a traditional, on-campus Commencement ceremony will be held for the Class of 2020 on Saturday, August 22, at 10 AM. The entire Southeastern community is invited to join us for this momentous occasion as we celebrate our graduates and consecrate their lives to the glory of God.

In the meantime, we trust that in these unprecedented times, you will continue to focus your heart and mind “unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Heb. 12:2).

Sincerely,
