Southeastern is pleased to announce the appointment of Joel Groce as the new Chief Financial Officer. Joel brings a wealth of experience in financial operations, leadership, and nonprofit management to his new role at the college.

Joel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Guilford College, where he graduated with honors. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, successfully overseeing diverse teams to accomplish financial goals and operational excellence. Joel has worked in both for-profit and nonprofit organizations, most recently serving two different nonprofit organizations that specialize in providing home repairs to income-qualified homeowners at no cost through federal, state, local, and corporate grants.

Prior to his work in the nonprofit sector, Joel had a 19-year career in managed healthcare and was responsible for all aspects of finance, financial reporting, human resources, and information technology.  After graduating from college, Joel spent 3 years in public accounting, auditing both private, public, and educational facilities.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Joel has served as a church music director for 38 years. He has been married to Donna Ashley for 45 years, and they have one daughter and two grandchildren. Joel and Donna are active members at Hilltop Church in Fuquay Varina, where they serve in various capacities as needed.

“We are thrilled to welcome Joel Groce to our team as the new CFO,” says Dr. Jeff Jones, College President and Pastor of Hilltop Church. “His extensive experience and dedication to financial excellence make him a valuable addition to our leadership team. We look forward to working with Joel as the college continues its mission to train young men and women for church-related ministries.”
