President Nate Ange and the Board of Directors of Southeastern Free Will Baptist College are pleased to announce that Dr. Russ Moots will become the new College Dean on July 1, 2021. Dr. Moots has served as a professor at the College since its inception in 1983. He has also held the positions of Registrar and Chairman of the Teacher Education Department. He is widely respected by the students, staff, alumni, and constituents of the College. Dr. Moots earned his bachelor’s degree at Bluffton University and his master’s and doctoral degrees at Louisiana Baptist University. Dr. Moots and his wife Vicky have two children, Travis and Jennifer, who both graduated from Southeastern and are serving in full-time ministry. They are also proud grandparents of six. Dr. and Mrs. Moots are faithful members of Faith FWB Church in Goldsboro, where they had served before moving to the College’s Virginia Beach location in 1983. Dr. Moots’ extensive experience in the field of education has prepared him for this new role, and Southeastern is excited to move forward under his leadership.

Dr. Moots will replace Dr. Danny Baer, who will retire at the end of the 2020-21 academic year. Dr. Baer has been the College Dean since 2018; he has served in a full-time capacity since 1989 and in a part-time role from 1983-1985. He has also held various positions as a professor, Business Manager, Registrar, and Academic Dean and was pivotal in leading the College forward in the accreditation process finalized in November 2020. President Nate Ange stated, “Our entire college family is extremely grateful for Dr. Baer’s devoted service, and he will be greatly missed. He has been monumentally instrumental in leading our college in the accreditation process. Moving forward, Dr. Moots brings to this position a lifetime of service in Christian education. Our Board of Directors, along with our entire administration, faculty, and staff, believe that Southeastern is facing a bright future.”
